iPhone Battery Replacement Kit For $20

iphone-battery-replacement-kit.jpg

One of the hottest topics about the new iPhone has been what to do if the battery dies. Replacement isn’t very easy and to maintain the warranty you have to send it back to Apple. If your iPhone happens to be out of it’s warranty then Apple says they will charge $79 to replace it plus another $6.95 for shipping.

If you end up in a situation where you need to replace your iPhone battery, then you might want to head over to Brando and pick up an iPhone battery replacement kit for $20. It’s said to include a manual, replacement battery, screw driver and pry tool. Of course, you also have to not be squeamish about tearing into that $600 gadget.

MacBook Pro - Used or New?

macbook-pro.jpg

Tax free weekend is coming up in North Carolina and I’ve been contemplating making the big switch and purchasing a 17 inch MacBook Pro. Looking at the models available on the Apple store, what I’m thinking I want is going to run about $3k. However, I could always compromise and step down somewhat for around $2200. The compromise would be giving up a 2.4 Core 2 Duo for a 2.3, that’s not so bad. It would also mean settling for a 160GB 5400 rpm drive instead of the 160GB 7200rpm drive I’d upgrade the new on for (this has me stuck, not sure if I’d really notice the speed difference). Then there is the glossy/HD display that available on the new model vs. just the glossy display (I’m not sure if this matters either). Finally, the new model MacBook Pro comes with wireless-N whereas, the refurb only has wireless-G, it can be upgraded without much trouble to wireless-N aftermarket but still.

There’s something to be said for a new model and I’ve heard really good thing about Apple’s refurb program, so I’m at a loss with what to do. I’m pretty good at talking myself out of buying things like this but I’ve been eying one for some time. So what do you think? Any opinions on either model?

Batman Tumbler Built From LEGO’s

While not on the scale of the LEGO Aircraft Carrier, this model is still pretty neat. It’s a replica of the Batmobile, called The Tumbler, from the last Batman movie (Batman Begins). It’s pretty neat, check out the images below.

Just A Little Bit Of Blogging Wisdom

Liz Strauss said to pass this along, and she’s so right. It’s a bit of wisdom from Kent Newsome that should be remembered. I see this each and everyday in and around the cube farm.

Those who promote blogging for one thing or another always pretend that corporate non-tech America has or is about to embrace blogging, when the reality is that other than email, corporate non-tech America hasn?t even embraced the internet. ?Kent Newsome

How true is that? Thanks Liz
