Broken Piling Completely Trashes A Million Dollar Yacht

Remember the story “How Not To Launch A $1.5 Million Dollar Yacht” a while back? Well here’s a good reason to not be piloting one in the middle of the night. As the story goes, the Fairlane was making it’s way up (or down) the InterCoastal Waterway when it struck a broken piling that had been hit earlier by a passing barge. As you can see, the impact was severe and caused significant damage to the yacht, including causing the CAT diesel to break loose of it’s mounts and somehow end up in the salon area.

Not to make light of anyone’s misfortune and it was reported those on board were rescued safely, but are they sure it was a broken piling because it sure looks like the damage could have been caused by a group of Britney Spears fans celebrating the release of her new album. Maybe the insurance people should look into that one…
