Hamilton will get his McLaren F1 LM

mclarenf1.jpg

Now that Lewis Hamilton has secured the Formula One championship, supercar fans around the world are asking when he’ll get his hands on that rare McLaren F1 LM. The incredibly valuable supercar – initially reported at $4 million but now apparently worth closer to 8 – was promised to the budding young driver if he won the title. However, the condition was that he win both the drivers title and, together with team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, lock up the constructors’ title for the team, as well. Although he won the drivers’ championship, the constructors’ crown went to arch-rivals Ferrari, but since McLaren chief Ron Dennis is such a good sport, he’s renegotiated the terms.

Hummer Tank Crushes All Others

If you thought your Hummer was tough, think again. I bet you never considered outfitting it with tank treads. Engineers have added aftermarket track belts in place of the standard wheels. You can do this yourself. You might lose some speed and your MPG will go down drastically, but you’ll be able to crush anything in your way. And I’m assuming these treads make it a giant snowmobile too.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Race Series

Ferrari does it. Porsche does it. And now, Lamborghini is going to do it, too. “It” is a single-make race series, and Lambo’s will showcase a competition-spec Gallardo LP560-4 dubbed the Super Trofeo. Each race will feature 30 of the cars, piloted by deep-pocketed private owners, dealer teams, and a single, Lambo-sponsored “celebrity driver” who’ll change from race-to-race.

Hydrogen Powered IRL Racecar Concept

I’m not sure what the purpose behind this was, other than to maybe “Just Do It” but it’s pretty cool.

The Honda IRL race car rests atop a hydrogen-powered “skate,” and its sleek curves and airways reduce drag and help keep everything cool. Arrowhead-shaped stones were the inspiration for its aggressive shape, though it still features the same open-wheeled design that’s been made classic in the Indy Racing League.

Honda Toughens Up The Pilot For 2009

I like the Honda Pilot well enough, I’d drive one if someone gave it to me, but the 2009 model is one I’d almost consider spending hours locked in a bitter battle with some sales dude over a couple hundred dollars I’d end up losing anyway.

The first-generation Pilot looked like a shrunken version of the 1968 International Harvester Travelall. The 2009 Honda Pilot looks like it’s ready to star in a futuristic remake of Soylent Green. Still, under the macho posturing you’ll find a simple, solid Honda, which is as it should be.

2009 Ferrari California Spyder

Ya’ll know I love a Ferrari right? Dunno why, call it some childhood Miami Vice fantasy thing. One of my favorite cars has always been the 1984 Ferrari Daytona Spyder used in the TV series. Well hang on, cause I think I’ve found my new favorite car. The 2009 Ferrari California Spyder. Folks this is one sweet looking ride. Yes Lucy, I think I want one.

Ferrari Millechili

Ferrari’s been rumored to be working on a new concept car to replace the Enzo line which has completed it’s manufacturing run. One of the hot options that’s surfaced is a package based on the Millechili concept, an environmentally friendly version of the Enzo.

The production vehicle is tipped to be based on the F430’s platform – remember that the 288 GTO and F40 were based on modified 308 underpinnings – but feature a 600hp V10 in a lightweight 1000kg package, with a lengthened wheelbase of around 104 inces, a $500,000 price tag and a production run of 300.

2009 Corvette ZR1 Breaks The Bank

Looks like the 2009 Corvette ZR1 is going down as the most expensive product ever offered by General Motors. With a base price tag of $103,300 you can pretty guarantee there won’t be many of these puppies tooling around your local neighborhoods on Friday nights. It’s a sweet ride though and at this price, who cares how much gas it uses.

The Corvette ZR1 also has a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h), making it the fastest Corvette ever produced and ranking it among the global super cars of commensurate performance. None of those other super cars, however, equals the ZR1’s performance-per-dollar ratio.
