iphone-unlocked-01.jpg

It was only a matter of time before the iPhone was freed from AT&T bondage. According to numerous reports the iPhone has been successfully unlocked to operate on other carriers. How’d they do it, well one New Jersey teen took matters to hard and came up with a difficult to manage hardware solution that got his iPhone to work on T-Mobile. That was topped however but Engadgets report that the iPhoneSIMFree.com has successfully unlocked an Engadget iPhone right before their eyes via a piece of software… in just minutes… without any pain. Oh you have to love the beauty of technology and the people who can undo it all for us mere mortals. The iPhoneSIMFree team didn’t say when or how the software would be distributed but you can bet it won’t be long. Engadget has the full rundown on the iPhone Unlocking complete with video.

Microsoft’s New Zune Phone (First Look Photos)

microsoft-logo.gifEarlier this week Microsoft made a filing with the FCC for a device that can be used for “consumer broadband access and networking”. This caused a flurry of activity in the blogoshere as people began digging for more information and what can only be a “Zune Phone”. It’s not really a surprise, since Apple announced their new iPhone, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft announced a similar product.

The funny part of this whole thing, aside from the fact Microsoft’s going to make a phone that will most likely need to be patched every other day, is that people will dig endlessly trying to get that “first look” at a new product. Thanks to these guys, we now have the first pictures of the new “Zune Phone”. I didn’t want to spoil it so the pictures are after the jump, let us know what you think.

Send friends a hug via Bluetooth enabled shirt

Hug Shirt

Enter the Hug Shirt, named by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of 2006. An interesting concept this one is, it’s a shirt with Bluetooth padded sensors sewn into the fabric. Whenever one person that’s wearing a Hug Shirt gives themselves a hug, the sensors pick it up and send it via Bluetooth to the wearers cell phone. That in turn is transmitted to a friend cellphone and if the friend is also wear a Hug Shirt, they then feel the squeeze, with the same amount of pressure applied. Designers say it will come in different colors and the sensors are removable, so they can be moved from shirt to shirt. The Hug Shirt is not in production yet.
