Dissecting The Latest MacBook And MacBook Pro Laptops

Some people, in the excitement of unboxing a new tech-toy, forget to stop until they’re down to bare metal. That seems to be the continual problem over at iFixit, where they’ve been dissecting the latest MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops.
Macbook Air Getting Some Updates/New Features

Brooke Crothers is a writer for CNET Blog Network and has put together an interesting look at some of the changes that are expected in the Macbook Air refresh that’s slated for later this year. Brooke admits to not being an Apple fanboy (that’ll change), confessing the Air is the first Mac he’s used for any length of time, so his perspective is without the sometime wild & crazy, oh my god you’re stupid for not liking this over embellished, I drank the Apple Kool-Aid and ate the package approach those of us who have broken free of the Matrix sometimes use hen talking about our gear.
First, a disclaimer. I am not an Apple fanatic. The MacBook Air is the first Apple product I have ever used for more than a few days. For well over a decade, I have been wedded to Wintel (Windows-Intel) laptops.
Before I dive into upcoming features, I should also mention that I have been extremely pleased with the Air and have used it almost daily for the last four months. But I would be remiss if I didn’t say it is overpriced, as all subnotebooks are.
- Some of the rumors and speculation surrounding the expected refresh are:
- A $500 price cut for the solid state drive (SSD) model
- A bigger, better solid state drive (potentially 100GB plus)
- Better processors (kind of a given)
- Better graphics (same)
- Better battery life (would be a much needed improvement although it’s not bad now, maybe replaceable battery)
- Also rumors of a docking station (I hate docks)
