F-35B Lightning II
The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the aircraft. Similar in size to the A variant, the B sacrifices some fuel volume for a vertical flight system. Vertical flight is by far the riskiest, and in the end, a decisive factor in design. Like the AV-8B Harrier II, the B’s guns will be carried in a ventral pod.

I’ve seen this several time and it’s cool everytime. I’ve tried to take photo of lightning but none of mine ever turn out quite like this. kudos to the photographer.

Top Gear: Struck By Lightning While In A Car…No Problem
This was just insane. Top Gear’s Richard Hammond got a charge out of this test. He somehow managed to talk German engineers into zapping a car with 800,000 volts to see what would happen if the car was struck by lightning… with him in it! That ranks right up there with swallowing an Alka-Seltzer just to see what would happen or maybe whizzing on an electric fence or some other stupid idea like that. Still, it’s a pretty cool physics test and the results aren’t exactly what we’ve always thought.
