PS3 Losing Ground To Wii And XBOX 360

Microsoft Nintendo hardware sales benefited once more from successful game titles in September. The best selling title for the month was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (610,000 units), which helped lift Xbox 360 sales by more than 75% from 195,200 in August to 347,200 units in September, according to NPD. The Wii climbed from a weak 453,000 units in August to 687,000 units on strong sales of its Wii Fit game and accessory, which sold 518,000 times during the month.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

Sonic fans out there that aren’t living under a rock are probably anxiously awaiting the release of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the DS… unless they don’t have a DS. Or they live in Europe. So, to celebrate, I’ve upload 61 new images for/from the game.
Rumor: New Nintendo DS Coming This Year, Said To Have Camera And Music

According to a report from Nikkei Net, Nintendo will introduce a new iteration of this Nintendo DS later this year, featuring a built-in camera and music playback. The new version of the DS is also reported to have improved wireless functions. Some versions of the report indicate the improved wireless capabilities will allow the new DS to connect to “information terminals,” expanding the machine’s non-gaming features.
Gamestop Optimistic They’ll Have Wii’s For Christmas

In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Bob McKenzie, the vice president of merchandising for Gamestop, was asked about the availability of the Wii for the holiday season coming up. Surprisingly, he was very optimistic.
…it will be much, much better than it has been the last two years. I can’t say we will be in stock every day throughout the holiday season but I can tell you that the current flow we’ve seen coming from Nintendo on Wii hardware makes us very confident that we will meet the business model that we’ve got…
What If Nintendo Remade Halo 3?

That’s the question someone asked me over coffee the other morning. Being no short of real stuff to do I hit the almighty Google and low and behold found this little gem. A video mock up of what Halo 3 might be like if Nintendo were to remake it.
Yeah, you know you liked it.
LEGO Star Wars, The Complete Saga

One of the coolest PS3 games I’ve played over the past couple of years was the LEGO Star Wars game that featured a story line from episodes 1-3 and the sequel LEGO Star Wars 2 from episodes 4-6. Coming soon, is the complete story in one game called Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. It’s being produced for the PS3, XBOX 360 and the Wii and it’s possible this game could boost Wii sales dramatically. Why? Because the Wii version will allow you to use the Wii controller to control the movement of the lightsabre. How cool is that!!
The game is slated for release on November 6th. Maybe Santa will bring my son a Wii for Christmas (wink, wink).

A look inside the Wii remotes

There’s been a lot of talk recently about the dangers of the Wii remotes caused by the wrists straps breaking during game play. Nintendo answered by replacing the straps with a heavier corded strap. But what makes these remotes work? What makes them different from the normal remotes on most other gaming consoles? For starters, they use the same technology that activates a vehicle air bag, by using tiny devices called MEMS, micro-electro-mechanical systems, that can accurately sense three axes of acceleration: up and down, left to right, and forward and backward. Using an image sensor and tiny light emitting diodes in a “sensor bar” the remotes communicate with the Wii console via Bluetooth technology and infrared.
