Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Review

Today was the big day for Star Wars fans. The very hyped new game The Force Unleashed was unleashed on consumers this morning. It’s packed with a new AI, new physics technology and a story written by Haden Blackman, meaning it’s certainly got some potential. But does it live up to all the hype? This review of The Force Unleashed from Kotaku will tell you everything you need to know, but you’re gonna buy it anyway right?

Epic Story: More than anything, it was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s story that kept me going through the game. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the game’s story wasn’t just emotionally evocative and engaging, but vital to fans of the history of Star Wars. There are moments in the game that are genuinely breath-taking, relationships I cared more about than in any of the first three episodes and a linchpin moment that helps to hook the original classic movies to the abortive modern trilogy. I’ve actually gone back and re-watched the cut-scenes again. That’s not just a first, it’s something so beyond the pale for me as to be likely a first and last.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Coming To The iPhone

Gizmodo reports a hands-on review of the The Force Unleashed, only this version of the upcoming Star Wars game is playable on the iPhone. According to the review, the battles are “enjoyably hectic” as you reflect your foes’ laser shots with properly timed/angled swipes of the finger.

But where we’d hoped to run around and slice our foes with laser swords, the mechanics never gave us a chance. Much like the classic PC series Rebel Assault, you don’t actually move your character through rooms. Instead, you reflect your foes’ laser shots with properly timed/angled swipes of the finger and activating force powers (like throwing baddies or electrocuting them) by drawing out symbols on the screen.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Trailer

As far as Star Wars games go I’m not a huge fan but Star Wars: The Force Unleashed looks to be particularly bad ass so I’m probably going to have to get a copy when the force is unleashed on September 16th.
