It Can’t Be That Hard To Drive An F1 Car Right?

Top Gear’s Richard Hammond gives it a go in a modern day 1,500 HP Williams Renault F1 race car. The challenge, to drive the F1 racer car for two laps around the Silverstone race track in England, without trashing the car. Given the level of sophistication of these cars today should be a simple task right? Not really. Even with traction control and all the other on board devices, Hammond still has trouble mastering the car, noting at one point that in a straight line it wasn’t too bad but in the corners he couldn’t think fast enough to react. Check out how Hammond does and a clip from the end of the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix.
Top Gear Test Drives V12 Ferrari 599 GTP

The Ferrari 599 GTP Fiorano, the Gran Turismo of the automotive industry is one sweet ride. I’ve always been partial to the Daytona Spyder but if I had the cash just laying around with nothing to spend it on, I’d definitely give this car a look. The 599 super sports car has an Enzo sourced Tipo F133F 6.0L V12 engine that produces a maximum 620hp, making it the most-powerful series production Ferrari road car and its 448 ft·lbf of torque is also high for Ferrari’s GT cars. If you can’t pick up at least 3 hot chicks in this car, then you’ve got some serious issues there pal. Video and photos after the jump.
The Best Drag Race Ever Recorded. Bugatti Veyron Against A RAF Jet

This is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while. Top Gear’s Richard Hammond pits a Bugatti Veyron against a Royal Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jet fighter in a one mile standing start drag race to see who’s better. Think you know who wins? Watch the video and find out.
Top Gear: Struck By Lightning While In A Car…No Problem

This was just insane. Top Gear’s Richard Hammond got a charge out of this test. He somehow managed to talk German engineers into zapping a car with 800,000 volts to see what would happen if the car was struck by lightning… with him in it! That ranks right up there with swallowing an Alka-Seltzer just to see what would happen or maybe whizzing on an electric fence or some other stupid idea like that. Still, it’s a pretty cool physics test and the results aren’t exactly what we’ve always thought.
