TechLasers 95mW Infiniti II Green Laser Review

Techlasers contacted me a while back asking if I wanted to review one of their green lasers. Being all about cool toys I agreed and it wasn’t long before they had sent me one of their Infiniti II Green Lasers. I gotta say these things are kick ass cool. It was especially fun on Halloween night while spooking in the local corn maze, I’m not sure which was more fun, scaring people in costume or freaking people out with the laser. It also made for great fun during the New Years countdown.
The laser itself comes packaged in a nice box and is accompanied by orange safety goggles and a note recommending they be worn when the laser is in use. They’re not lying, I aimed it down the hall and it was so bright I had to close my eyes. The casing is metal painted with a flat blue finish and comes with a silver carrying tube that’s very handy for traveling, allowing you to just stick it in your pocket.
The laser takes 2 AAA batteries, which it phenomenal considering how much power it puts out and what’s even better, they seem to last a good while. I’ve been playing with the laser off and on for several weeks now and the batteries last a pretty good while but I found that to get optimal performance from the laser you need good batteries. On a fresh set of batteries you can do things like burn holes in black plastic, pop black or dark balloons and light matches. We were able to pop a black balloon that was filled with air only, we tried serveral times to get it to pop one filled with water but it never would. We tried both warm and hot water in the balloon but it seemed the laser cooled too fast on the surface it would never penetrate. Oh well, it’s still powerful enough to be dangerous so caution should be exercised when using this laser and it makes a great pointer, especially if you’re star gazing, just don’t be pointing at any airplanes, that could get you a visit from some men in black suits.

Green lasers? Really? Everyone knows that lasers should be red. Last time I saw star trek the lasers were red… Have you ever seen a storm trooper fire a green laser? No, I didn’t think so. Give me red or give me death!

All lasers are invisible in clean clear air. All lasers are visible when you have fog or smoke in the air.
It is our policy to satisfy our customers’ requirements. As a modest company in the laser industry, we concentrate on providing our customers …
They are not illegal however it is very illegal to shine them into the cockpits of airplanes and hellicopters. That is a felony. DO NOT shine it in the eyes of a person or an animal. That could do permanent damage.
…seemingly good deals such as “50mw green laser for $50″ and “20mw for $20, $100 off… getting mixed reviews of them. Some say stuff like… All lasers are…with powerful lasers that pop…
This laser looks awesome. I don’t know if I’d really have any use for it other than to point it at airplanes. But still, its cool to hear that popping balloons with light is possible.
